It has shaken and created quite a stir  in the local auto kingdom.  In pursuit of Her Majesty’s Service, James Bond takes an exhilarating  foray into the Philippines. This time,  the Aston Martins are here to stay as signified by a formal  launching held last week at the Aston Martin HQ at the G/F W Fifth Avenue Bldg., 5th Ave., cor 32nd St. in Fort Bonifacio Global City. According to Patrik Nilsson, Regional Director for Aston Martin Asia Pacific, the launch of the brand is a testament to the company’s ongoing expansion to increase their presence in the Asia Pacific region.” “The economic growth in Asia Pacific represents a huge potential for the brand. I am very pleased that we have found the perfect partners in Manila who share our passion for Aston Martin. This expansion will surely strengthen our network,” says Nilsson.

At the helm of the DBPhils Motorsports Incorporated, the country’s exclusive distributor of the Aston Martin brand, are two  young blood  in the industry:  Marc Tagle of the famed Bridgestone brand and Marc Soong, who adds Aston Martin  to  his family’s list of marquee brands such as Land Rover, Maseratti, Ferrari and Jaguar cars.

The state-of-the-art showroom offers door-to-door pickup and delivery services for maintenance and repairs of customers’ vehicles. Owners can rest assured that their cars will be maintained by Aston Martin-certified technicians using the brand’s latest diagnostic equipment and tools, according to Tagle.  “We  welcome all Aston Martin owners at our new state of the art after sales facility, including those who imported their cars prior to our official presence. This will be a new start for existing Aston Martin customers as well,” explains Tagle.

“With Aston Martin’s arrival in the country, the market will now have one of the   iconic luxury sports cars. The country’s economic growth is fueling interest  in  a more sophisticated sports car,” adds Nicky Mariano Managing Director of DBPhils.

DBPhilippines officials are optimistic about the brand in the country.

Tagle introduced to the media the full range of Aston Martin sports cars. From the track-inspired Vantage, the timeless DB9 and elegant four-door Rapide S to the ultimate in sporting luxury  – the Vanquish.

Tagle  discloses  that orders have been taken on models even before the official opening of the dealership, including the 100-unit limited production Vantage GT12. “Filipinos know the history of the brand and it also helped that there are generations of James Bond fans who would like to see themselves driving the car of the world’s most popular secret agent,” says Tagle.

Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and  Robert Bamford.  The two had joined forces as Bamford & Martin the previous year to sell cars made by  Singer  from premises in Callow Street, London where they also serviced  GWK   and Calthorpe  vehicles. Martin raced specials at  Aston Hill  near  Aston Clinton, and the pair decided to make their own vehicles. The first car to be named  Aston Martin  was created by Martin by fitting a four-cylinder  Coventry-Simplex  engine to the chassis of a 1908  Isotta-Fraschini.

And  the rest, as they say, is history.
