Entertaining and educational all at once, FYI’s newest shows this October trace the extraordinary beginnings of ordinary objects, give us a peek into living life “off the grid,” and blend our obsessions for music and food.
Ever stop and wonder how a bicycle or rubber duck came to be? Home Factory reveals the fascinating histories behind these and other everyday objects 8 p.m. every Wednesday. Once you see the thought and manpower invested in the likes of a light bulb or garden house, you’ll never take another household item for granted again.
Lucky fans of the Zac Brown Band get to bond with the Grammy Award-winning country group through Eat & Greets, an intimate and unique sit-down meal prepared by the band’s own executive chef Rusty Hamlin in Rusty’s Rockfeast: Backstage With The Zac Brown Band.
Premiering Thursday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m., this unique series catches the chef and his culinary team whip up delicious and original gourmet dishes using locally sourced ingredients from the city where the band is on tour. Despite the limited time and resources, Chef Rusty and his experienced kitchen staff still manage to pull through, with sumptuous entrees improvised on the spot, much to fans’ and the band’s delight.
Tired of living the rat race? Consider Unplugged Nation, a show where a family leaves the creature comforts of their modern home for a more spartan, “unplugged” existence in remote locations across America. Ultimate outdoorsman Jay Gruen guides family members each week through such off-the-grid tasks as growing their own food, running their own electricity, and fending for themselves. After four days, the family must decide if they are meant for this modest form of living or not. This eye-opening series premieres Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 9 pm.
FYI™ is available on SKYCable Ch 79 (SD) and Ch 200 (HD).
