4,000 workers hired by Saudis
At least 4,000 Filipino workers were deployed to Saudi Arabia in the first quarter of 2013, according to the Philippine Overseas Employment Authority.
The increase in the deployment of household workers to KSA was buoyed by the new agreement between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia government guaranteeing the safeguards and additional benefits of Filipina domestic helpers, POEA media consultant Emmanuel Geslani said.
He said HSWs are expected to be deployed this year with huge demand for Filipina workers from Saudi households.
Since the Philippines and Saudi Arabia agreed on a standard employment contract last October, the deployment of household service workers increased.
The POEA issued strict guidelines in the accreditation of Saudi-based recruitment agencies allowing only accredited recruitment agencies with Saudi-counterparts to deploy new or rehired workers.
