Duterte admin rates ‘very good’—SWS
MOST Filipinos remained satisfied with the “very good” performance of the Duterte administration despite double digit drops in Metro Manila and Balance of Luzon, the latest Social Weather Stations survey revealed Thursday.
The Third Quarter 2017 Social Weather Stations survey of 1,500 respondents, found 71 percent of adult Filipinos were satisfied, and 13 percent were dissatisfied with the general performance of the current national administration, for a net satisfaction rating of +58, classified by SWS as “very good.”
Some 16 percent were undecided.
The net satisfaction rating was six points below the +64 posted in June 2017.
The polling company traced the six-point drop to satisfaction rating declines in Metro Manila (16 points) and Balance of Luzon (11 points). The administration’s ratings went up slightly in Mindanao (two points) and the Visays (one point).
The administration’s net rating stayed excellent in Mindanao, at +74 in September 2017, up by two points from +72 in June 2017.
It stayed very good in the Visayas, at +57 in September, hardly changing from +56 in June.
It stayed very good in Balance Luzon, at +52 in September, down by 11 points from +63 in June.
It also stayed very good in Metro Manila, at +51 in September but down by 16 points from +67 in June
Across classes, the Duterte administration’s net satisfaction rating stayed very good in classes ABC and D; with satisfaction from those in class ABC staying very good at +60 in September 2017, up by five points from +55 in June 2017.
It also stayed very good in class D or the masa, at +60 in September, although four points below the +64 in June.
It fell one grade level from very good to good among Class E respondents, however, registering a steep 22-point decline for +68 in June to +46 in September.
Out of 17 specific performance subjects rated, the same survey revealed net satisfaction ratings of the Duterte administration were very good on four subjects, good on eight subjects, and moderate on five.
The net rating of the administration was very good on: Helping the poor (+67), Protecting the environment (+58), Defending the country’s territorial rights (+52), and Providing jobs (+50).
It was good on: Distributing lands to deserving tillers under land reform (+49), Fighting terrorism (+47), Protecting human rights(+46), Foreign relations (+40), Reconciling with Muslim rebels (+38), Eradicating graft and corruption (+35), Reconciling with communist rebels (+35), and Fighting crimes (+30).
It was moderate on: Ensuring that no family will ever be hungry (+29), Recovering the ‘’hidden wealth’’ stolen by Marcos and his cronies (+28), Resolving the traffic problem (+22), Solving the problem of extrajudicial killings or EJK (+22), and Fighting inflation (+21).
The latest survey, conducted from September 23 to 27 had sampling error margins of ±2.5 percent for national percentages.
