Editorial cartoon maligned Mison name

This is in reference to your newspaper’s editorial on 3 June 2015 with the caricature depicting the Chinese national Wang Bo running free while another person with the label “Mison” running the other way carrying a huge bag of money.

The caricature, without a doubt, has maligned, ruined, or otherwise destroyed the integrity of the MISON name, which my father and his siblings have nurtured in their many years in public service. While the editorial story did not point to any specific personality supposedly involved in the anomaly as it mentioned all the members of the Board of Commissioners – Siegfred Mison, Abdullah Mangotara, and Gilberto Repizo—the caricature only depicted “Mison”.

I find the caricature as well as the subsequent articles published in your reputable newspaper as not only inaccurate but also libelous. While I understand that the story has already been published and seen by the general public, I urge that all concerned persons, from the publisher, to the editor, to the reporter, to abide by the principles of veracity, independence, and accountability of responsible journalism.

In this regard, I strongly suggest that your paper not only print this letter but also publish an erratum or rectification with the same prominence as the published editorial article. I anticipate your prompt attention and favorable consideration to this letter.
